![]() ![]() I'm trying to have a small list of them, the existing Small/Medium humanoid "produced" weapons, like not "unique ones". Having the PC be able to pick it up and be proficient is what gives them any "special value", to me at least. This is super "gamey", but I blame WotC for introducing a 1-handed 1d8 simple melee weapon, no one thought people would foam at the mouth for 1? (" Your telling me my Chultian tribal goblin cant own a yklwa DM?")Ĭould you all post a small lst of items you found and their source book, please? Especially for any " enhanced" versions of listed weapons, like the shark-tooth longsword or repeating light crossbow. A character may be made with any, previous, season's guideline document (like it had sat dormant or gone unused), and is usable as long as it doesnt violate the season being played guidelines. "can choose to deal no damage and try to trip the target instead, in which case the target must succeed on a DC 9 Strength saving throw or fall AL player Document has a "small issue" in wording in the section regarding building a character. Its not super interesting unless your really leaning into a "disabler build": "the Crushing Wave cultists take in many people who are bitter, lost, or mad." "where devotees use water-breathing magic to immerse themselves in the element they worship."Īlso the Derro spear isnt a "free" trip every attack, its like a DC9 str check to trip AT THE EXPENSE OF ANY DAMAGE. As a small note all the "cultists" encountered with them are all just PC race NPS's that sometimes use water-breathing magic: I'll link you here for a shark-tooth note from WotC designers on twitter, but I get its a table by table call. Picking up a hook from a Pirate Bosun would absolutely not give a PC a free action grapple with every hit, nor would a derro spear give a free trip with every Very good point. I would rule that it is the combination of weapon and monster only that gives the listed benefits. The trip for the derro, grapple for the bosun, and extra damage dice for the sharktooth are all listed as performed by the monster. ![]() Yklwa looks least interesting at 1st, but infact is very good at its 1gp value, simple melee weapon with 1d8 damage dice + "thrown" quality + being 1-handed!Īnchorite of Talos has a clawed gauntlet, Pirate Bosun has a hook, to name a couple more.īut.just a note on monster items: The stat blocks don't implicitly say that the weapon itself gives additional benefits. Of all listed only Yklwaand/or Double-bladed Scimitar can be bought, and they are limited to their campaign settings respectfully. I would not allow a "shark-toothed shortsword or greatsword" or "repeating heavy or hand crossbow" as they dont exist in print anywhere. The Shark-toothed longsword, Derro hooked spear & repeating crossbow should be able to be duplicated (at a custom made cost) if you have a working example to copy. Unsold items are generally "looted, captured, or stolen" only, well unless DM arranges some "trade" with items owners. Sharktooth Longsword - PoA (common "crushing wave cult" item, unsold) Awesome item, sadly only available in long sword form (as printed)ĭid I miss any obvious ones? Everything else is for "large" or bigger creatures, or is a special weapon needing some racial do-dad (natural sticky "goop", needs more than 2 arm limbs, etc.) or would be considered a "not simple or martial, but "special"" weapon (there fore treated as improvised RAW, or at very least non-proficient at DM decision).Oversized Longbow - WDH (unique item with unique ammo, unsold) unique item with unique ammo.Light Repeating Crossbow - OotA (common Derro item, unsold) best ranged option for a small sized character in all of 5e.Hooked Shortspear - OotA (common Derro item, unsold), decent as a TWF option for "tripping".Yklwa- ToA (common "Chultan" item, sold on & near chult.Double-bladed Scimitar - ERLW ("guarded" but sold elf item, Eberron item only). The Double-bladed Scimitar is a sold Eberron only weapon form its source material (& have elven blood in your veins)Īlso the Yklwa and/or Double-bladed Scimitar is able to be bought as starting equipment in AL ("any resource") depending on campaign setting ![]() Its a Forgotten Realms only weapon form its source material ![]() The Yklwa is your most likely non-typical weapon to be sold in a shop, if "near" Chult. These weapons have listings in various sources, some are "enhanced" versions of existing weapons (like repeating light crossbow) others are their entire own weapon with full listing Odd or other "special" equipment that seems usable by PC's via purchase and/or capture, that are not listed in PHB.
